2007 - 2008 Season
Sunset Tango and Latin Dance Explosion
Sunday, May 4th 1:30pm
Since 2003, AIT has been performing dance on ice events for the Bay Area community. Our first full-length production in San Jose was a great success. Thank you for helping us celebrate Sunset Tango and Latin Dance Explosion.
Guest starring 2008 National Competitors Amanda Dobbs and Dennis Phan, 2002 Olympian Beata Handra as well as the Golden State Synchronized Skating Team.
Sunset Tango and Latin Dance Explosion combined music, dance and figure skating in a full-length show including special non-skating guests: singer sensation Manuel Romero and salsa dance champions Enrique Jarquin and Lucy Yoo.
Sunset Tango included a 30 minute series of Tango pieces woven together in a story-line exploring the trysts and turns of relationships. Latin Dance Explosion included a musical celebration of Latin rhythms from Regge-tone to Rumba. The coincidence of the performance date and 'Cinco de Mayo', as well as the Latin 'flavor' of the program made the show a family fun celebration on ice.
The 2008 AIT ensemble included: Ashley Duenas, Cohen Duncan, Rebecca Erb, Billy Kheir, Elizabeth McGlauflin, Lisa Menestrina, Asay Passinsky, Jodi Porter, Elizabeth Handley, and Ben Westenberger.
Sunset Tango and Latin Dance Explosion were sponsored in part by Arts Council Silicon Valley, John and Judith Haller, The Barbara and David Groce Fund, The Mental Edge, Harlick & Company Inc., and made possible through the generous support of Peninsula Figure Skating Club, AIT board members, and many volunteers of AIT. Performance sanctioned by USFS.
